For this tutorial, we are going to make 1/4 page note pads. They are the most common size and you can make alot of them quickly.
This tutorial is not meant to be purchased. Feel free to print and use this page as a reference.
Step 1
To start, simply lay out a page in any print program, section the sheet in 4 squares, and design the pad. We printed 25 sheets.
Step 2
Once printed, you now cut down the sheets to the size of your notepad. I Fiskars paper cutter is shown. Its important that you get a straight edge on the side that you are going to apply the padding cement.
step 3
The next step is to stack your notepads. You simply place a piece of the appropriate sized chipboard in between each stack. This will make the backing of your notepad.
Step 4
You now get your handy pad vise out!! Our vise can be used on several different sized pads. To ensure proper tension on your note pad stack, it is best to move the bolts of the vise as close to the edge of the note pad as possible.
Step 5
You now want to line up the leading edge of the note pad with the edge of the vise. Tapping it on a table seems to do the best job. Once your satisfied with it, tighten up the wing nuts to clamp the stack together.
Step 6
Your edge should look like this. (Top) As shown,(Bottom) it there is some tolerance for how closely you line up everything.
Step 7
now apply the padding cement. Apply the first coat, wait about an hour, then apply the second coat. It is always good practice to wipe all excess glue off the pad vise before it dries.
Step 8
Once dry, carefully pull apart your note pads!!!
